PrimeTime Online Program Overview 2020-21

In response to the current orders by the Governor of California, the County of San Diego and San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD), in person learning on SDUSD school site campuses for the 2020-2021 school year is temporarily on hold due to COVID-19. As a result of this order, the SDUSD PrimeTime Program, funded by the After School Education Safety grant, will be limited to virtual/distance learning support until schools reopen safely.

PrimeTime will be offering a virtual/online learning after school program including academic, enrichment and physical education for participating students. The PrimeTime before school program is currently not being offered. Once in person, on campus learning commences, PrimeTime will convert to in person, onsite programming.

PrimeTime notifications will be sent during the month of August to parents/guardians via the email used when applying. Those students accepted into the PrimeTime virtual/online program will be provided additional information to register in their acceptance notice. As updates become available, the PrimeTime website will be updated.

2020-21 PrimeTime After School Online Program:
The SDUSD PrimeTime will be offering an engaging virtual/online learning after school program for participating students using the Think, Feel, Read curriculum. A Social and Emotional Literacy Curriculum designed to enhance after school learning and connection in an online, hybrid, or in-person setting. It starts with a Social and Emotional theme, like caring connection, or empathy. A curated list of books is assembled specifically for the message communicated in the storyline. Special attention is focused on selecting books that feature characters and settings that are relatable and reflective of a diverse community. A literacy guide is crafted for each picture book and/or chapter and is designed to help staff through a step-by-step process for creating powerful social and emotional discussions. Thoughtful attention is dedicated to extrapolating “feeling words” from the text along with: comprehension questions, critical thinking activities, and creative responses that lead to STEAM extensions.
