Budget Development

Budget Development oversees the Financial Reporting and Budget Development units. These units are responsible for the preparation and provision of complex fiscal, statistical, informational materials, and government reports for district management, the Chief Business Officer, the Board of Education, and the general public.

The Financial Reporting unit is dedicated to ensuring fiscal accountability. The unit is responsible for Position Control function which is responsible for the accurate budgeting of positions and position costs, and reconciliation of positions to staffing.

The Budget Development unit compiles, prepares, and finalizes district expenditure reports, state-mandated first and second interim reports, year-end financial reports, audited financial statements and SACS reporting. Budget Development ensures that financial resources from federal and state agencies are appropriately used and reported. In addition, the department manages the School Site Based Budgeting (SBB) tool which encompasses the four areas of the district budget: base school allocation, central office support, categorical funds and site discretionary funds.

The processing of all payroll posting to the general ledger, updating salary encumbrances, processing and posting of internal and external expense files, management of Chart of Accounts, report distribution, combo edit trees, and overrides are performed by Budget Development.
