PROPOSED aTTENDANCE boundary CHANGES FOR 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR

mira mesa cluster

The 3Roots development, currently under construction, is located in the southwest corner of the Mira Mesa neighborhood and currently not assigned to any schools. At full build-out in approximately four years 3Roots will include 1,800 units of apartments and single family residences. Changes to school attendance area boundaries are necessary to provide school assignment to the new housing. Two scenarios have been developed and the district is now seeking community input. Please see links to Scenario A and B maps below, and a link to a survey to provide feedback. Responses may be submitted through the month of May 2021. The preferred Scenario will be presented at the Mira Mesa Cluster meeting on May 24. This item is expected to be presented to the Board of Trustees for approval in June, with implementation in the 2021-22 school year.

Scenario a - hickman and mason elementary schools receive new 3Roots housing

In Scenario A, three elementary schools are proposed for change. Hickman and Mason attendance areas expand to include 3Roots, while Sandburg acquires part of Hickman's attendance area.  Jonas Salk would have no change. Middle school attendance areas are also adjusted to match the proposed elementary changes, with Mason continuing to feed to Wangenheim, and Hickman, Jonas Salk, and Sandburg to Challenger.
