SAN DIEGO – From rustic nature scenes to introspective self-portraits, over 500 works of art spanning all grades are currently being featured prominently at the Eugene Brucker Education Center.

The annual District Art Exhibit is now on display following an unveiling Wednesday, March 15. Students toured the temporary gallery with family members, teachers and district leaders.

“The talent and creativity of our student artists is amazing,” said Superintendent Dr. Lamont Jackson. “Each piece shares a unique voice and vision. I’m so proud of our students, as well as our talented art teachers, who provide both the tools and creative space to let individuality flourish and thrive.”

Works feature a broad cross-section of visual art and include paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, ceramics and more. The annual San Diego Unified Art Exhibit celebrates both the creative and critical thinking skills being developed by students of all ages from across the district.

“The foundation of an arts education is to better help each student express themself through a medium of their choosing,” said Visual and Performing Arts Director Russ Sperling. “But the true works of art are the students themselves.”

The exhibit will remain displayed throughout the Ed Center until April 6, 2023.

For those who are not able to attend the exhibit in person, a companion online version featuring approximately 350 works is available. The online exhibit includes a mix of creations shown at the Ed Center, as well as additional material displayed exclusively online.
